An epaper display would be much better on the thumbdrive since it would retain the image with the power off.
I'm critical of intolerance in the US too, but in fact we are one of the most tolerant non-homogeneous societies in the world. A friend of mine who is half Guatemalan and half Japanese and grew up in both countries says that while you may see less overt intolerance or discussion of such issues, it's actually far worse than in the US. In his opinion the US is an almost unimaginable utopia of tolerance, considering world history and how humans usually handle differences.
